Project Title: «µPPET: studying the Cosmic Rays Muon Puzzle by probing muons with J-PETs»
The project aims to study the "muon puzzle" with high-energy cosmic rays, using the two J-PET machines developed by Jagiellonian University as extensive air shower detectors and muon trackers.
We offer a one-year funded Ph.D. scholarship to a student. The job consists of simulating the detection of muon traces and their trajectory reconstructions. The duty includes setting and maintaining the GEANT4 description for one of the J-PET machines ("Big-Barrel"), which will play the role of the muon tracker.
We recommend this position to a student who will benefit from working with a realistic cosmic rays background for the thesis.
