Wymagania:

Requirements and qualifications:
- a PhD degree (awarded prior to the start of the project) in a biological or related field
- proven knowledge of basic molecular biology and microbiology techniques
- very good written and oral English language skills
- scientific achievements in the form of JCR-listed publications as well as conference proceedings, particularly in the field of molecular biology

The additional advantage will be:
- experience in the application of research techniques related to the topic of the grant (e.g. gene cloning, mutagenesis, protein purification, blot methods, sample preparation and processing of transcriptomic or qRT-PCR data, work with bacteriophages)
- possession of awards or distinctions for research or scientific work
- completion of various training courses in molecular techniques
- participation in national and international traineeships

The candidate should be characterised by strong motivation for scientific work, communicativeness, creativity̨, meticulous research and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Project title:
The Axe-Txe toxin-antitoxin system in the multidrug resistant human pathogen
Enterococcus faecium: regulation and role in bacterial cell physiology

Offer description:
The post-doc will carry out experiments to understand the effects of Axe-Txe toxin-antitoxin system proteins on enterococci physiology, virulence-related features and pathogenesis of diseases caused by these microorganisms. Studies will be performed in vitro as well as in vivo, using a variety of molecular biology and microbiology techniques. The post-doc will be required to participate in the planning of experiments, their execution and to systematically analyse the results obtained and present them at research team meetings, as well as to assist in the preparation of manuscripts. We offer a collegial and friendly atmosphere in an research group where the successful candidate can develop their scientific expertise and experience in a supportive environment. Terms and conditions of project employment:
- starting date of the project: no earlier than 01.03.2025
- remuneration: PLN 140,000/year gross
- employment for a period of 3 years. Contract with a 6-month probationary period
- it is expected that during the period of employment in the grant the post-doc will not take up another job

Candidate applications should include:
- an application form with a letter of motivation
- a CV addressing the above-mentioned expectations
- an opinion from two persons holding at least a doctoral degree, including the opinion of the supervisor/promoter of the doctoral dissertation
- a copy of the doctoral diploma or the supervisor's statement of the scheduled date of the doctoral defence
- a summary of the doctoral dissertation
- a list of research techniques used by the applicant
- a signed RODO statement which reads: ‘I consent to the University of Gdańsk processing my personal data contained in my application documents for the purposes necessary for the current recruitment procedure for the position of doctoral student-scholar and for subsequent recruitment of candidates for the position of University of Gdańsk in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016. Additional information: According to NCN requirements, only a person who has obtained a doctoral degree no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project may be accepted. This period may be extended by the time of being on long-term (more than 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits due to incapacity for work during this period. In addition to this period, the number of months spent on leave related to the care and upbringing of children granted in accordance with the principles set out in the Labour Code may be added, and in the case of women - 18 months for each born or adopted child, if this method of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more favourable.
In accordance with NCN requirements, only a person who obtained their doctoral degree in an entity other than the University of Gdańsk may be admitted.
