IMol has been established to conduct scientific research and provide training in the fields of biological, chemical, medical, biotechnological, bioinformatics, biophysical, pharmacological, and similar sciences, in the international environment conducive to collaborative efforts, research and development interactions with the biotechnological industry, and wide dissemination of our results. We aim at the development of solutions that will help everyone on this planet live a safer life.
At the moment, IMol is looking for a candidate for the position of PhD student/student in Warsaw, Poland, for the implementation of the project Sonata 20 (Project leader: Dr Klaudia Maruszczak) financed by the National Science Center.
Project leader: Dr Klaudia Maruszczak
Project title: “Control of phospholipid composition of the inner mitochondrial membrane and its impact on protein translocase activity”
Download the description of the project: https://projekty.ncn.gov.pl/opisy/632279-en.pdf (SONATA 20)
This project will investigate how the lipid composition of the mitochondrial inner membrane regulates protein import and organelle biogenesis, focusing on the role of the enzyme PISD, which synthesizes phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). It will explore how PISD dysfunction affects mitochondrial function and contributes to cellular lipid imbalance and disease. The project seeks to advance understanding of how mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to human disease by uncovering regulatory mechanisms of lipid-dependent protein import.
The project will be realised in a vibrant and internationally recognised group led by Prof. Agnieszka Chacińska (https://imol.institute/leaders/chacinska-group/)
