• PhD degree in life sciences/biomedical sciences (biology, biotechnology, medical sciences, pharmacy, bioengineering or related), obtained in the year of employment in the project or within 12 years before 1 January of the year of employment in the project. The earliest permissible date for obtaining a doctoral degree is 1 January 2014.
• Practical experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular biology;
• Experience in experimental oncology and/or translational research; experience with patient-derived material and CTC-related research is highly welcome;
• Experience with 3D cell models (spheroids/hydrogels/bioprinting) and/or in vivo/ex vivo models is an advantage;
• Very good publication record appropriate to career stage;
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken);
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment; experience with international collaborators will be considered an asset.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to carry out research within an NCN-funded project focused on the development and application of a CTC-on-CAM platform for functional profiling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) isolated from lung cancer patients. The project integrates CTC isolation, in vitro expansion/conditioning, 2D/3D culture models, implantation into the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model, and phenotypic/molecular analyses to study tumor heterogeneity, EMT-related traits, and drug sensitivity. The work will be performed in close collaboration with a clinical partner.
Key responsibilities include:
• Preparation of complete documentation for submission to the Bioethics Committee.
• Coordination of the process to obtain all required approvals and formal permits to conduct the experiments.
• Archiving and maintaining an organized registry of the obtained documents.
• Ongoing collaboration and regular contact with the clinical partner.
• Planning and conducting experiments according to the project schedule.
• Isolation and handling of CTCs and other clinically derived samples in compliance with applicable procedures and formal requirements.
• Establishing and optimizing cell culture workflows and preparing 2D/3D models for functional assays.
• Conducting CAM experiments (implantation, monitoring, sampling).
• Performing phenotypic and molecular analyses (e.g., IF/IHC, qPCR, protein-based assays) and interpreting results.
• Ensuring proper documentation and data quality, and contributing to SOP development.
• Preparing manuscripts, conference presentations, and project reports.
• (as agreed with the PI) providing scientific support for junior team members.
• Position starts on 01.March 2026 employment for 48 months (4-year contract);
• Gross gross salary: PLN 140,000 per year, paid in 12 monthly instalments (PLN 11 666,66 gross-gross per month).
• The successful candidate will have access to the research infrastructure and support necessary to deliver project objectives, including opportunities for publishing and conference participation within the project framework.
