The candidate must meet the additional formal criteria specified in the conditions of the NCN OPUS competition: the doctoral degree must have been obtained within 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended under special circumstances, in accordance with the regulations mentioned above. The candidate must have obtained their doctoral degree at an institution other than the one where employment on this position is planned, or must have completed at least a 10-month-long, continuous and documented postdoctoral fellowship at an institution other than the one implementing the project, and in a country different from the one where the doctoral degree was obtained.
We are seeking a motivated researcher for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Plant Ecophysiology AMU (Poznan) in the OPUS project (National Science Centre, NCN). The successful candidate will participate in studies to determine the positive (pro-life) or negative (pro-death) effect of the recently discovered plant signaling molecule nitroxyl (a related to nitric oxide) on potato resistance to Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, the cause of potato late blight disease.
The research involves:
- participation in plant (potato) cultivation, pathogen (P. infestans) culture, and treatment(s); plant inoculation;
- potato transformation;
- protein cloning for activity regulation determination;
-gene expression, Western blot, and enzymatic activity analysis of potato proteinases, including immunodetection of post-translational modifications;
- redox potential profiling;
- plant resistance signal detection;
- participation in in silico analysis;
- participation in sectioning and preparing tissues for spatial transcriptomics;
- statistical analysis of studied parameters;
- reporting, preparation of publication manuscripts, and public presentation of results.
Full-time employment contract, initially for 12 months with a possibility of extension depending on the results for the remaining 36 months; gross/gross salary of approx. PLN 11,500/month; a friendly, dynamic, and supportive environment of co-workers.
