Opis zadań:

A fully funded Ph.D. position is available within the SONATA 19 project “Defect Engineering of 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs) for Nitrogen Reduction Reaction (NRR).” The goal of this research is to explore the electrocatalytic performance of defect-engineered layered TMDs using a combination of experimental techniques and theoretical simulations. The successful candidate will focus on performing DFT calculations to understand defect formation, adsorption mechanisms of N2 versus H, and to elucidate the reaction pathways on 2D catalysts.
The candidate is expected to:
• Perform DFT calculations on TMDs for electrocatalytic NRR
• Analyze electronic structure, charge distribution, and potential energy surfaces of engineered TMDs.
• Simulate nitrogen and hydrogen adsorption preferences to predict selectivity towards NRR over HER.
• Collaborate closely with experimentalists to interpret electrochemical and structural data.
• Contribute to the development of mechanistic understanding of NRR pathways
• Present results in the form of reports and assist in writing research manuscripts
• Active participation in domestic and international conferences
