Wymagania:
• a doctoral degree in the field of physical sciences or related sciences obtained in the year of employment in the project or in the period of 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project;
• outstanding scientific achievements;
• experience in acquiring, managing, or implementing research projects;
• documented scientific achievements in the field of astrophysical plasma magnetohydrodynamics, confirmed by publications in international journals with a high (>4) impact factor;
• ability to analyze or simulate numerical magnetohydrodynamic waves in the solar atmosphere and programming using Python and Fortran90;
• knowledge of methods for numerically solving magnetohydrodynamic equations is recommended.
• knowledge of data analysis software (e.g., ViSiT) and text editing software (Latex) is required.
• proficiency in English;
• motivation to conduct scientific research and the ability to work in a team.
Employment will take place in accordance with the Regulations for the allocation of funds for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Centre in the field of research projects. The candidate must meet the conditions set by the National Science Centre for persons employed in a post-doc position:
• obtained a doctoral degree in the year of employment in the project or in the period of 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended by the duration of stay in this period for long-term (over 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits in connection with incapacity for work. In addition, this period may be extended by the number of months of leave related to the care and upbringing of children granted on the terms set out in the Labour Code, and in the case of women – by 18 months for each child born or adopted, if such a method of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more favourable.
• has obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity in which the position is planned to be employed, or has completed at least a 10-month, continuous and documented postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country in which the doctoral degree was obtained;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, will not receive any other remuneration from funds granted as direct costs from research projects funded under NCN calls;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, he/she will not receive remuneration from another employer on the basis of an employment contract, including an employer with a registered office outside Polish;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, will not receive pension benefits from the social security system;
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Theoretical Physics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. The position is funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) under the research project “Multi-fluid modeling of atmospheric heating of the Sun and the formation of the solar wind” (No. UMO-2025/57/B/ST9/00114).
The project focuses on numerical simulations of multi-fluid wave dynamics, their role in plasma heating, and the generation of plasma outflows in the solar atmosphere. The research will proceed in two stages: (a) initial studies using a two-fluid model, followed by (b) the development and application of an advanced three-fluid model. The results obtained from the three-fluid approach will be systematically compared with those from the two-fluid model to quantify the role of helium (He) and singly ionized helium (He⁺) in plasma heating and solar wind formation.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of the JOANNA code, aimed at enabling advanced three-fluid simulations of the solar atmosphere. This work will involve improving the code architecture and implementing additional physical components, including helium species.
Candidates should have a strong background in numerical methods for multi-fluid plasma equations and a solid understanding of the underlying physical processes.

Warunki zatrudnienia:
Full-time employment contract within the framework of a research project for a definite period of time from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension until 30 June 2029.
Annual (12 months) super gross remuneration: PLN 140,000.
