Project description
The aim of the project is to investigate the impact of changes in the organization of the Streptomyces chromosome on gene expression. We will examine the biological function of nucleoid associated proteins, their binding to DNA and their influence on binding of transcriptional regulators. We will verify if elimination of NAPs from Streptomyces strains may increase the production of bioactive compounds, such as antibiotics and if it is dependent on environmental conditions. To answer our research questions, postdoctoral researcher will aim to determine how the binding of NAPs to chromosome is regulated depending on physiological state of the cell and DNA topology, and will examine NAPs influence on DNA topology. They will also be involved in the research team's activities.
