Wymagania:

- The candidate must have an undergraduate university degree in biology, medicine, or a related field; preferred fields/specializations: biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field. The candidate must hold a degree of master of science, a degree of master of engineering, or an equivalent degree, obtained after completing a second-cycle degree program or an equivalent long-cycle degree program, or plan to obtain such a degree by July 23rd, 2026. Failure to obtain the professional degree by this deadline by the selected candidate will result in the recruitment process being invalidated.
- The candidate must be willing to apply to the BioMedChem Doctoral School of the University of Lodz and Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz (https://www.uni.lodz.pl/en/biomedchem) and complete the recruitment process for the 2026/2027 academic year (details of the procedure and deadlines are described here: https://www.uni.lodz.pl/en/biomedchem/admission/information-for-future-doctoral-students). Failure to apply to the BioMedChem Doctoral School by the candidate selected through the recruitment process will result in its invalidation.

- The candidate must have the following professional experience: practical skills (acquired during education or professional work) in mammalian cell culture and working with nucleic acids; theoretical knowledge in cell biology, molecular genetics, and endocrinology.
- The candidate must have the following additional skills: English language proficiency at a minimum level of B2; and the ability to plan experiments, perform statistical analysis, document, develop, and present research results.

Opis zadań:

Conducting research as part of project no. 2025/57/B/NZ7/03708 entitled "Cholesin and its receptor as novel therapeutic and diagnostic targets in metabolic disorders" (OPUS 29 competition), funded by the National Science Centre (a project carried out in consortium composed of the Medical University of Lodz and the University of Lodz; principal investigator: prof. dr hab. Wojciech Fendler; coordinator of the project part carried out at the University of Lodz and planned supervisor of the Ph.D. dissertation of the scholarship holder: dr hab. Łukasz Pułaski, prof. UŁ). The Ph.D. scholarship holder's responsibilities will include in vitro culturing of human cell lines, ex vivo isolation of cells from human tissues, biochemical and genetic analyses of the status of signaling pathways and gene expression levels in cells and tissues, construction and use of research models using molecular biology and cell biology techniques, conducting other research within the scope of the progressing project, collaboration with other project team members, planning experiments, developing and presenting (in writing and orally) research results, including at international conferences, participating in the preparation of scientific publications, and preparing a doctoral dissertation (preliminary proposed topic: "Effect of cholesin on human adipocytes – signalling pathways and functional effects").

Warunki zatrudnienia:

Upon commencement of their studies at the BioMedChem Doctoral School, the recruited candidate will receive a 48-month doctoral scholarship from the National Science Centre (NCN) project 2025/57/B/NZ7/03708, in the amount specified in the University of Lodz's internal regulations (current information is available on the BioMedChem Doctoral School website: https://www.uni.lodz.pl/en/biomedchem/admission/information-for-future-doctoral-students), as well as an additional research scholarship up to the amount specified in the research project funding agreement. The total value of the doctoral scholarship and research scholarship, including derivatives, paid during the period of their receipt by the Ph.D. student – scholarship holder, cannot exceed PLN 276 000.

Dodatkowe informacje:

The following documents are required for the recruitment process:
- A curriculum vitae containing at least information about completed and ongoing studies, grade point average (GPA) in completed studies, a list of scientific achievements (scientific articles published or accepted for publication in scientific journals or collective works, monographs, abstracts of conference proceedings), information about domestic internships and professional training, information about science-related activities in countries other than the country of undergraduate education, information about workshops and training courses attended, information about additional professional activities (in student research groups, popularization, social, and organizational activities), information about the professional skills and theoretical knowledge required for the position of Ph.D. student – scholarship holder, with a clear indication of how they were acquired.
- A motivation letter specifying, in particular, the candidate's reasons for applying for the position of Ph.D. student – scholarship holder in this particular research project and any unique predispositions for this position.
- A copy of diploma confirming the professional title of master of science, master of engineering, or equivalent, or a statement specifying the planned date and place of obtaining this diploma.

Submitted applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by the Vice-Rector for Science of the University of Lodz. The committee will pre-select candidates, inform them of their advancement to the next stage of the recruitment process, and then, on June 3rd, 2026 (or another date agreed upon with the candidate), conduct online interviews (only with pre-selected candidates) via the MS Teams platform. The publication of final results of the competition and notification of the selected candidate will take place on June 8th, 2026. The selected candidate is expected to immediately take steps to recruit to BioMedChem Doctoral School.
