Nazwa stanowiska: Scholarship for a PhD student
Wymagania:

- A 4-year scientific scholarship for a PhD student. Work is planned under the project “Systems of equations and growth rates in groups” (NCN SONATA BIS, no. 2025/58/E/ST1/00143, PI: Dr Motiejus Valiunas).
- The candidate should not hold a doctoral degree and have the status of PhD student at a doctoral school at a university located in Poland for the entire period of receiving the scientific scholarship.
- The candidate should have a broad knowledge in mathematics. They should also have a good command of geometry and/or group theory (completed courses in the theory of infinite groups are highly recommended).

Opis zadań:

The doctoral student is expected to have weekly meetings with the PI to discuss questions set within the project, as well as to participate in the Geometry Seminar of the University of Wrocław. The main goal is to conduct research on the project and to take part in the preparation of corresponding publications in academic journals. The general topic is geometric group theory; a more specific topic will be determined at a later date, but should be related to equationally Noetherian groups and families.

Warunki zatrudnienia:

- Scholarship amount: 5000 PLN per month (tax-free).
- Planned period: 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2030.
- Application deadline: 1 June 2026, 23:59.
- Funding for travel: approx. 7500 PLN per year (conferences and research visits).
- The scientific scholarship may be awarded to a person who does not hold a doctoral degree and is a PhD student at a doctoral school at a university located in Poland.
- The scholarship holder must be a PhD student at the doctoral school for the entire period of receiving the scientific scholarship.

- Academic CV containing information about distinctions, scholarships, grants, foreign visits, and participation in conferences and scientific schools.
- List of publications (if the candidate already has any).
- List of courses completed during the studies and grades obtained.
- A copy of the diploma of completion of Master’s studies, or information on when the Master’s thesis defense is planned (or took place), if applicable.
- Names and email addresses of two people who may be asked for an opinion about the candidate.
- A copy of the Master’s thesis (if it exists).
