Project title:
Three-photon absorption of organic fluorescent dyes
Project description:
The primary goal of the current project is to study strategies for maximizing 2PA and 3PA efficiency on an equal footing in a systematic manner. With bioimaging applications in mind, the development of three photon absorbers as molecular probes for microscopy requires fulfilling additional requirements, e.g., tuning of absorption wavelengths and fluorescence quantum yields. Unfortunately, the design rules have not been set yet. Moreover, in the present project we will make an attempt to fill this gap and develop design rules for three-photon-excited fluorescent probes.
Requirements for applicants:
- Knowledge in chemistry, spectroscopy, and/or optics,
- Fulfilled requirements for the recruitment to Doctoral School of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology,
- doctoral student status at the Doctoral School,
- Willingness and motivation for scientific work,
- The ability to learn and assimilate knowledge quickly,
ability to work in a team,
- Proficiency in written and spoken English,
- Practical experience in laboratory work (laser spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy and/or experience with Python and LabView will be an added advantage).

List of required documents:
- CV with list of publications (also sent) and conference
presentations
- certificate of doctoral student status,
- cover letter,
- contact information of a researcher who may recommend the candidate (preferably previous thesis supervisor).
Particularly important is the information on:
- course of studies and interests,
- past achievements in professional work (completed internships/internships, participation in workshops and trainings, etc.),
- Honors and academic achievements (scholarships, awards, activities in scientific circles).
There may be additional requirements in the recruitment process (thesis presentation, interview)

Opis zadań:

Research tasks:
1. Research work on the linear and nonlinear optical properties of new fluorescent dyes and the study of their interaction with biomolecules
2. Planning and conducting experiments, analysis of the obtained results.
3. Collaboration with the project team members and partners.
4. Preparation of conference presentations and scientific publications presenting the project results.
