Profile of a candidate/requirements:
1. Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology or related fields
2. Minimum 1 year of research experience in microbiology or molecular biology.
3. Working knowledge about environmental microbiology, genomics or synthetic biology.
4. Basic knowledge of bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data.
5. Experience in microfluidics is a plus.
6. Very good knowledge of English.
7. Willingness to gain new expertise.
Key responsibilities:
1. Experimental work:
a) Development of barcoding strategies for encoding the reaction conditions and
sequencing 16S DNA from bacterial consortia.
b) Implementation of existing and development of new assays with ultrahigh-throughput
optical readout in droplet format.
c) Execution of microfluidic experiments with screening of microbial consortia.
d) Biochemical characterization of selected microbial consortia.
2. Tracking current research trends in the scientific literature.
3. Analysis and publication of the obtained results, participation in the preparation of patent
applications, and potential commercialization of the research results
4. Participation in seminars and scientific conferences.
5. Optional supervision of undergraduate students involved in research work in the project.
