This recruitment concerns the Sonata BIS project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), agreement no. 2023/50/E/NZ4/00026, entitled: “Physiological significance and clinical implications of global and local inhibition of NRF2 transcriptional activity in the intestines – is it hormonal, neuronal or microbiota that preserve intestinal function during altered histological structure?.”
The project leader and PhD supervisor will be dr hab. Aleksandra Piechota-Polańczyk.

Candidate Requirements
- Master’s degree in pharmacy, medicine, biology, biophysics, biotechnology, or bioengineering
- Laboratory research experience
- Authorship or co-authorship of a publication in an international journal is an asset
- Ability to write scientific texts and prepare presentations
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Excellent organizational skills and precision in laboratory work
- Motivation, responsibility, independence, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
A person may become a scholarship holder if, at the time of commencing the receipt of the research scholarship, i.e., on October 1, 2026, they are a participant in doctoral studies or a doctoral student at a doctoral school. (Participants in doctoral studies as defined by the Act of July 27, 2005 – Law on Higher Education, or doctoral students at a doctoral school as defined by the Act of July 20, 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science).
Key Responsibilities
- Literature review and analysis
- Execution of project tasks according to the research plan
- In vitro culture of human and mice intestinal organoids
- Inhibition of selected genes (siRNA or CRISPR-Cas system)
- Performing immunofluorescence staining
- Performing ELISA tests
- Participation in flow cytometry-based experiments
- Gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR)
- Data processing and visualization
- Preparation of abstracts for conferences and co-authorship of scientific papers

Scholarship Terms
Scholarships will be awarded in accordance with NCN regulations for the Sonata BIS projects. The evaluation committee will rank candidates based on merit, research experience, and qualifications relevant to the project. The highest-ranking candidate will be selected. In the event of resignation, the next in line may be offered the position.
