Nazwa stanowiska: Post-doc
Wymagania:
• a doctoral degree in the field of chemical sciences or related sciences;
• outstanding scientific achievements;
• experience in acquiring, managing, or implementing research projects;
• documented scientific achievements in the area of remediation applications by various types of materials, like carbon-based sorbents (including carbon textiles) confirmed by publications in international journals with a high (>3) impact factor;
• knowledge of techniques for characterizing porous materials, such as for example low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR;
• proficiency in English;
• motivation to conduct scientific research and the ability to work in a team.
• meeting the requirements of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Article 113) and the Statute of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (§ 79)
Employment will take place in accordance with the Regulations for the allocation of funds for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Centre in the field of research projects. The candidate must meet the conditions set by the National Science Centre for persons employed in a post-doc position. A person applying for the competition must meet the following conditions:
• obtained a doctoral degree in the year of employment in the project or in the period of 7 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended by the duration of stay in this period for long-term (over 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits in connection with incapacity for work. In addition, this period may be extended by the number of months of leave related to the care and upbringing of children granted on the terms set out in the Labour Code, and in the case of women – by 18 months for each child born or adopted, if such a method of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more favourable.
• has obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity in which the position is planned to be employed, or has completed at least a 10-month, continuous and documented postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country in which the doctoral degree was obtained;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, will not receive any other remuneration from funds granted as direct costs from research projects funded under NCN calls;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, he/she will not receive remuneration from another employer on the basis of an employment contract, including an employer with a registered office outside Polish;
• during the period of receiving remuneration for employment in this position, will not receive pension benefits from the social security system;
• will be employed for a period of not less than 6 months.
* Design and perform experiments related to the synthesis and modification of carbon-based materials, including carbon textiles, and composites with MOFs/ZIFs or metal oxides.
* Carry out detailed physicochemical characterization of materials using: Nitrogen sorption, XPS, SEM/TEM, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy.
* Evaluate adsorptive or/and reactive performance toward emerging pollutants, like simulants of warfare agents vapors, VOCs, dyes, or pharmaceuticals.
* Identify degradation intermediates and explore the detoxification mechanisms using techniques like GC-MS or LC-MS (if available via collaborators or shared platforms).
* Analyze experimental data using appropriate kinetic, thermodynamic, and isotherm models.
* Prepare research reports and data summaries for internal documentation and NCN progress reports.
* Draft and revise high-quality manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
* Co-Supervising of PhD and MSc students.
* Participate in regular group meetings and joint discussions with partners.
* Disseminating project results through conference presentations and scientific publications.

Warunki zatrudnienia:
Employment contract within the framework of a research project for a definite period of time from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2027.
Monthly super gross renumeration: PLN 11.666.
During the period of receiving remuneration under the established employment relationship, it is not possible to receive any other remuneration on the basis of an employment contract with any employer (also applies to an employer with a registered office outside the territory of the Republic of Poland).
During the period of employment at UMCS as part of a research project, it is not possible to receive any other remuneration from funds awarded as part of direct costs from research projects funded under the National Science Centre calls.
