Project Title
Multiconfigurational Noncovalent Interactions Visualization and Analysis (MC-NOVA): Spatial Assignment of SAPT(MC) Interaction Energy Components
Quantum chemistry enables the simulation and analysis of chemical and physical phenomena at the molecular level, providing insights that are often inaccessible through experiments alone. One of the major challenges is understanding the nature and origin of noncovalent interactions (NCIs), which, despite being individually weak, play a fundamental role in determining the structure, stability, and function of molecular systems.
This project aims to develop MC-NOVA, a computational framework for the visualization and spatial analysis of noncovalent interactions in both ground and electronically excited states. The project combines advanced electronic structure theory with scientific software development to provide new tools for interpreting interaction energy components in complex molecular systems, with applications in biochemistry, photochemistry, and astrochemistry.
Research Tasks
1. Perform high-performance quantum chemical calculations on supercomputers (HPC systems).
2. Develop and implement methods in ab initio quantum chemistry software.
3. Apply the developed methods to investigate and visualize noncovalent interactions in biologically and astrochemically relevant molecular systems.
4. Maintain and document the developed software, including version control and repository management.
