The successful candidates must hold PhD in geomechanics, petroleum or reservoir engineering, geological engineering, geophysics, geology or a related field, at the time of employment, and have advanced skills in standard and modern industrial software and machine learning. The successful candidates must have research experience in numerical modelling and/or laboratory experiments, monitoring of geological or engineering systems, and knowledge of rock, cement, casing, or wellbore integrity related to hydrogen storage in subsurface systems. The successful candidates must provide a record of successful collaborative research, be able to work toward project deadlines, and have a willingness to work with industry scientists to apply techniques and research results. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of scientific publication in international peer-reviewed journals as lead author and demonstrated fluency in spoken and written English. The successful applicant will be expected to present at meetings with sponsors, present at conferences, and publish in international journals.
PhD degree awarded no earlier than 12 years before employment in the project (with exemptions in accordance with the NCN regulations).
Position description: The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to geomechanical modelling and laboratory experiments involving rock, cement, and casing materials to assess caprock and wellbore integrity and the sealing integrity of wellbore cement and casing under conditions relevant to subsurface hydrogen storage, and monitoring technology.
Responsibilities:
Conduct geomechanical modelling and laboratory experiments related to subsurface hydrogen storage.
Investigate the integrity and sealing performance of caprock and wellbore systems.
Analyse and interpret numerical and experimental results.
Contribute to the development of monitoring methods for wellbore and storage integrity
Prepare scientific publications, reports, and presentations.
Collaborate with national and international research partners.
Contribute to research projects and dissemination activities.
Develop research proposal and apply for funding from external sources
