Skills/Qualifications:
- PhD degree in physics or related disciplines, obtained in the year of employment in the project or within
7 years before 1 January of the year of employment in the project. It is permissible to obtain the doctoral degree after the recruitment process has concluded but prior to the commencement of employment. In such a case, a document confirming the expected date of obtaining the doctoral degree must be submitted.
- practical knowledge of techniques for measuring gamma radiation energy (scintillation detectors) or light charged particles,
- experience in experimental nuclear physics,
- documented scientific activity in the form of list of publications in renowned international scientific journals,
- analytical skills and the ability to independently solve research problems,
- very good command of English, both spoken and written, enabling smooth work in an international environment and presentation of results
Welcome:
- experience in performing theoretical calculations using the FRESCO code or other DWBA-based models,
- practical knowledge of the Geant4 package (or related programs) for simulating the interaction of particles and radiation with matter and optimizing detector geometry,
- knowledge of the ROOT environment and C++ / Python programming languages used in physical data analysis.
The Adjunct/Post-doc will be involved in a project funded by the National Science Centre, entitled „Elusive collective processes in atomic nuclei inferred from photon spectra in experiments based on hybrid setups of multi detector arrays”. The selected candidate will actively participate in the preparation, execution, and analysis of experiments which aims on investigation of the decay of Giant Resonances, at the Cyclotron Centre Bronowice (CCB) of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) in Kraków [1]. These experiments use an advanced detection system, including PARIS and LaBr₃ detectors for gamma-ray detection and KRATTA telescopes for charged particle. This setup enables precise measurements of gamma decays of excited states induced by protons with energies ranging from 70 to 230 MeV which are available at the CCB IFJ PAN accelerator.
In addition to analyzing data collected locally in Kraków, the newly employed researcher will be involved in the analysis process of data obtained during experimental campaigns conducted in France (IJCLab, Orsay) and Romania (IFIN-HH), as well as in future experiments planned in Italy (LNL Legnaro).
The responsibilities of the hired researcher will also include preparing scientific publications and presenting research results at international scientific conferences.
