Head of the Department of Economic Science at the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Gdańsk University of Technology. Since 2001, she has worked at the Gdańsk University of Technology, since 1 July 2016 as an Associate Professor.

In 2006, she was awarded a doctorate in Economics and received Prime Minister’s award for her doctoral dissertation. Between 2007 and 2008, she attended a Max Weber Fellowship at the European University Institute in Florence. She has conducted part of her research at the Katholieke Universitei in Leuven, Belgium as a Marie Curie Fellow and at the Glasgow University as a beneficiary of a Dekaban Junior Fellowship scholarship. In the 2013/2014 academic year, she was a visiting scholar at the Center for Labor Economics at the University of California in Berkeley, where she conducted research study entitled “Comparative analysis of efficiency of European and American universities" under the “Mobility Plus” program funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

In 2015, she obtained habilitation based on two monothematic series of publications: "Convergence of wages and prices" and "Efficiency and productivity of higher education institutions". In 2016, she was conferred awards by the Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education for the achievements that formed the basis for her habilitation.  

She is the author of over 60 publications, including articles (authored or co-authored) in the following journals: Open Economies Review, Research Policy, Journal of Economic Inequality, Technological and Economic Development of Economy, Empirica, Journal of European Economics, Science and Public Policy, Bulletin of Economic Research, The World Economy, Emerging Markets, Finance and Trade, Journal of Productivity Analysis, Scientometrics.

Her research interest focuses on the theory and empirics of economic convergence, productivity and efficiency analyses, economics of education and labour markets.

She has been a principal investigator in a research project of Ernst & Young under the Better Government Program, various projects of the National Science Centre and projects co-financed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). She is currently the coordinator of the Jean Monnet Chair in Economics and participates in the EXCELLECE project (scientific excellence: competitiveness, measurability, internationalization - from empirical research to higher education reforms) as part of the DIALOGUE program.
