He is working at the Department of Electronics as a full professor. He is a specialist in silicon detectors of ionizing radiation and has participated in its development since the moment when they first appeared in applications for physics experiments at colliders. In the 80s and 90s he participated in pioneering work related to the construction of a silicon vertex detector at the European Center for Nuclear Research - CERN in Switzerland. In cooperation with the Institute of Electron Technology in Warsaw, he has built silicon strip detectors and has propagated a new type of active pixel detector made in SOI technology. He spent many years working at foreign universities: Milan University - Italy (1987-1991), Strasbourg University - France (1997), University of Illinois at Chicago - USA (1998-1999), Karlsruhe University - Germany (2002), Insubria University at Como - Italy (2003- 2004) and international research centers (CERN - Switzerland, Brookhaven National Laboratory - USA, Argonne National Laboratory - USA). He gained experience in the methods of scientific research both in universities and research centers. He participated in the international research collaboration DELPHI - at CERN (1987-2000) and PHOBOS at BNL (1998-2006). Currently he is participating in 3 collaborations: CBM at GSI - Germany, LHCb and NA61/SHINE at CERN. He was a principal investigator or an investigator in 7 national grants and 3 EU grants. His scientific achievements include over 500 publications (including approx. 400 papers published in reputable journals) and 3 international patents. According to the database of the Web of Science:Hirsch index is 48 and the number of citations without self-citations is over 10 000. The 17 publications have been cited more than 100 times. In 1999 he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit and in 2002 received the Medal of the National Education Commission. He has received the Rector's Award for scientific and teaching achievements 14 times.
