This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 13th call - One Health interventions to prevent or reduce the development and transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Environment
resistance plasmid; transmission; bacteriophages; water treatment
I am microbial ecologist whose group mostly works on horizontal transfer of resistance in the environment. We have isolated bacteriophages that specifically lyse plasmid -carrying bacteria, irrespective of their taxon. These could be leveraged to control transferable resistance genes in environmental engineering applications (our main interest) or in other settings (e.g. aquaculture, animal husbandry).
I am interesting joining a project where mobile resistance genes in the environment are of relevance and/or where the application of plasmid-specific phages is of interest.
