This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 13th call - One Health interventions to prevent or reduce the development and transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Human Health
LMIC; Southeast Asia; MRSA; mechanism of resistance next-generation genome surveillance and susceptibility testing
I have experience in molecular & genome surveillance, antibiotic susceptibility testing and molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in nosocomial pathogens, especially MRSAs. I have been working with clinical microbiologists, infectious diseases specialists, infection control and AMS team in our tertiary hospital (Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) to establish genotyping and genome surveillance for MRSAs. I have contacts with the local health system and knowledge on workflows of working in LMICs.
Me and my research partners provide an LMIC hospital setting for the study of interventions and impact of AMR in humans. In addition, colleagues in the same university will be able to help in animal health and environmental AMR microbiology. We would like to join a study which requires the above study setting, to further understand AMR dynamics and its transmission prevention in LMIC hospitals. Due to the location of our institution in Malaysia, an LMIC in Southeast Asia, the project we join will be eligible for funding from ICARS and IDRC.
