Antimicrobial Resistance, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Microbiology, Shotgun metagenomics, One-Health
The drivers of AMR in LIMC are complex and may be rooted in practices of healthcare professionals/hospitals, abuse of antimicrobials, unreliable supply chains of antimicrobials in the population, poor wastewater and sewage management, antimicrobial use in animal/poultry farms, poor management of pharmaceutical industrial waste, lack of appropriate functioning drug regulatory mechanisms. I am looking for team (s) interested in understanding of acquisition, transmission and diversity of AMR by investigating hospital, farm animal and industrial wastes using Shotgun metagenomics. I seek to study metagenome sequence data from One-Health wastes from different countries including Uganda during two seasons (dry and wet).
