  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

    Sciensano is a Belgian scientific institute bringing together microbiologists, epidemiologists and molecular biology experts, working together under the One Health concept for AMR surveillance in food producing animals, food and wastewater. We have expertise in: - Techniques such as FT-IR, dPCR, WGS, and bioinformatic analysis, but also basic techniques such as classical microbiological methods, qPRC, and MALDI-TOF. We are the Belgian national reference laboratory for antimicrobial resistance (NRL-AMR), but also Salmonella, Campylobacter, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli. - epidemiological research, including observational studies in slaughterhouses, food and Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) - the development of high throughput resolution techniques for qualitative and quantitative mapping of emerging threats in different settings, such as wastewater. - the development of tools for detection and identification of emerging genetic determinants.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

    We are looking for projects in which we can contribute, such as expanding AMR surveillance to environmental settings, for example wastewater and hospital effluents, and compare data across countries with existing surveillance programs.
