The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) is a government institute, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh. It is responsible for surveillance, outbreak investigation, workforce development and research. We are conducting AMR surveillance since 2017 in eleven sites across the country. AMR surveillance reference laboratory is situated at IEDCR. This laboratory has biorepository which contains different multi -drug resistant bacteria and equipped with automated identification system VITEK-2, VITEK- MS and molecular identification system. IEDCR chairs the one health secretariate of Bangladesh. It brings together microbiologist, epidemiologist, anthropologist, animal health experts. With a reputation as a high functioning agency IEDCR has strong, positive and long-standing partnership with other key entities providing public health services and expertise in Bangladesh, including US-CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), US Agency for International Development (USAID), UNFPA, icddr,b and Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).
We are interested to work together in the projects where we can contribute, such as expanding AMR surveillance through one health approach, Containment of AMR through innovative technologies, methods and strategies in human health, animal health and environmental settings.
