Fusarium cereals crops fungicide resistance
I am the head of the team involved in studies of plant pathogenic Fusarium species. We established a huge collection of field isolates of a geographically diverse set of Fusaria mainly associated with cereals. We are currently involved in characterizing genetic diversity of different strains/species using whole genome sequencing data. For more than 20 years, I worked on developing molecular tools for the detection and identification of Fusaria to the species or genotype level. I also conducted gene expression studies using qPCR to reveal the response of F. graminearum under sublethal levels of fungicides. Today, our major goal of the study focuses on population study of F. graminearum but we are willing to extend our research areas to other fungal pathogens.
We are interested in collaborating on a project involving the characterization of genes or gene clusters responsible for fungicide resistance and study their genetic diversity and distribution of fungicide resistance across a wide range of fungal lineages. We are also interested in joining efforts enabling development of qPCR tools for specific quantification of fungicide resistant genotypes.
