Animal Health (incl. wild-life, livestock, acquatic organisms, and companion animals) FoodEnvironment (incl. natural and built)molecular epidemiology; bioinformatics; WGS; MGEs; antimicrobial susceptibility testing
The NRL-AR coordinates the National Monitoring Programme of AMR in veterinary medicine (food-producing animals, food of animal origin) in Italy according to the current EU legislation. I work in a research group within the NRL-AR which is active in the field of applied research on genomic aspects (core genome, accessory genome) of zoonotic agents & antimicrobial resistance. My expertise and research include AMR detection, using phenotypic and genotypic methods, in (zoonotic) bacterial pathogens and opportunistic bacteria in a One-Health perspective at animal-environment-human interface.
I am interested in projects aiming at improve AMR surveillance systems with a One Health approach, e.g. by using High-throughput sequencing methods to track the global evolution and spread of AMR (zoonotic) agents and the horizontal gene transfer of AMR genes
