16th JPIAMR transnational call for research projects - AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023 (DISTOMOS)

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 16th call -AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023 (DISTOMOS).

General Information

  • Type: Partner looking for project
  • Organisation: University of Leeds
  • Country: United Kingdom (UK)
  • Career stage: Other.

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 1: to develop novel, or improve existing, diagnostics, including point of care diagnostics, that can rule out antimicrobial use or help identify the most effective antimicrobial treatment
  • One Health Setting:

    Human Health

  • Keywords:

susceptibility testing; MIC; rapid diagnostics; antibiotic resistance: volatiles

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I have proof of principle for using sensing of volatile compounds produced by growing bacteria as a rapid (1 hour) approach to susceptibility testing. I\'d like to build on these data to evaluate the approach more comprehensively, extending it to a much broader range of bacterial pathogens of varying antibiotic susceptibility, and thereby explore the potential for deployment in the diagnostic laboratory.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I\'d be interested in partnering with colleagues exploring other rapid MIC methods, as I think (i) evaluating a suite of approaches in parallel would make a really strong proposal and (ii) since the evaluation/ validation aspects would be essentially the same for different methodologies, working together would streamline the workflow and avoid duplication of effort across multiple projects.
