This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 16th call -AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023 (DISTOMOS).
Human Health
Animal Health (incl. wild-life, livestock, acquatic organisms, and companion animals) Environment (incl. natural and built)Shewanella; aquatic bacteria; bacterial physiology; biofilms; antibiotic resistance
Senior scientist recently appointed Assoc. Prof. o Microbiology at the ULPGC, Spain (Sept. 2022). Early-stage PI (< 8 years post-PhD). I have a track record in bacterial physiology and biofilm research, with a focus on the genus Shewanella and other aquatic bacteria. I can provide a strong competence in bacterial genetics and gene manipulation, bacterial metabolism, access to sequencing technologies, and experience in the isolation and identification of waterborne pathogens or environmental strains, as well as the detection of AMR genes or the capture of mobile genetic elements.
Based on the Canary Islands, Spain. Willing to contribute to AMR surveillance in this European ultraperipheral region with significant singularities. Key interests: -AMR circulation/prevention in bacterial biofilms. -Surveillance of AMR resistance in planktonic vs biofilm communities in the environment, especially on polluted sites (antifouling compounds, industrial effluents, wastewater, eutrophic waters, sediments). -Detection, isolation, and characterization of AMR mobilomes in aquatic bacterial communities including waterborne human/animal pathogenic species.
