16th JPIAMR transnational call for research projects - AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023 (DISTOMOS)

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 16th call -AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023 (DISTOMOS).

General Information

  • Project title: PCR-based selective enrichment of target sequences
  • Type: Project looking for partner
  • Organisation: Fraunhofer IGB
  • Country: Germany (DE)
  • Career stage: Other.

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 1: to develop novel, or improve existing, diagnostics, including point of care diagnostics, that can rule out antimicrobial use or help identify the most effective antimicrobial treatment
  • One Health Setting:

    Human Health

  • Keywords:

Sepsis; pathogen detection; AMR detection; multiplex PCR; diagnostic platform

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

We, the in-vitro diagnostic at the Fraunhofer IGB at Stuttgart, have a broad knowledge in detection of sepsis-causative pathogens with newest NGS methods (Grumaz et al. 2016). We are looking for international partners with similiar expertise as well as partners with microbiological and clinical expertise

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

We will improve and further develop a diagnostic platform for fast and cost-efficient detection of pathogens and AMRs in septic patients, exploiting cfDNA as biomarker of choice. With a specifically-adapted PCR we already shown multiplexing target capacity and will improve that to broaden the detection possibilities for pathogens (species and genus) and AMRs. Furthermore, NGS technologies will allow the specific and sensetive detection within the platform. For interests in the topic or further ideas, we are looking forward for interesting partners and discussions.
