Our expertise lies in organic and polymer synthesis, with a primary focus on polymeric synthetic antimicrobial agents targeting cell walls (SAMPs). We are also engaged in developing antifouling and antiseptic materials. Beyond synthesizing molecules, we conduct initial-stage biological investigations and tests on model bacterial and fungal organisms. In collaborative efforts, we examine toxicity and engage with various lipid models to understand the biophysical aspects of activity, such as lipid-polymer interactions.
We are eager to collaborate with microbiologists, molecular biologists, and biophysicists to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms of activity. Our goal is to gain insights into the structure-activity relationships of our molecules to further develop the classes we are currently focusing on. Recently, we have isolated promising small molecular candidates with significant activity against Candida, an area we are keen to explore further. We are also pleased to offer our organic and polymer synthesis expertise to support interesting ideas related to antibacterial and antifungal molecules.
