biobased Ionic liquids bioactive ionic molecules surfactants hydrogels 3D-printed materials

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

Our team specialises in the design and synthesis of biocompounds, focusing on quaternary and tertiary ionic salts, ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents and zwitterions. The compounds we\'ve developed include antimicrobial agents with both broad-spectrum microbiological activity and selective, targeted effects. We have also developed compounds with potent antifouling and antiseptic properties. Our database contains compounds with bio-effects that are significantly stronger than commonly used standards. We are also at the forefront of creating innovative functional materials, such as 3D-printed hydrogels infused with bioactive compounds and nanoparticle stabilisers with antifungal and antibacterial properties.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

We are keen to collaborate with experts in microbiology, molecular biology and biophysics to improve our understanding of mechanisms of action. Our aim is to deepen the structure-activity relationships of our targeted ionic molecules to advance the classes we are currently focusing on. Recently, we have synthesized new molecular entities derived from vitamin PP, which have demonstrated exceptional targeted efficacy against staphylococcal bacteria. This is a promising area that we look forward to exploring further. In addition, we are pleased to be able to contribute our expertise in organic synthesis to projects focused on the development of new antibacterial and antifungal agents.
