17th JPIAMR transnational call for research projects - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT)

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 17th call - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT).

General Information

  • Type: Partner looking for project
  • Organisation: Agroscope
  • Country: Switzerland (CH)
  • Career stage: Early Career Researcher (up to 8 years** since PhD).

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 2: Improve and/or, compare and/or evaluate strategies, technologies, treatments, methods, protocols or data collection based on existing interventions, aiming to prevent or reduce the emergence or spread of antibacterial or antifungal resistance or to treat/cure infections caused by resistant bacteria/fungi and recommend new policies.
  • Subtopics:

    1. Improve and/or compare and/ or evaluate the effectiveness of existing interventions (e.g. cost effectiveness clinical utility, socio-economic adaptability, reducing AMR emergence, spread, transmission, treatment etc.)

  • One Health Setting:

Animal Health (incl. wildlife, livestock, acquatic organisms, and companion animals)

  • Keywords:

    mastitis; AMR; Cow; WGS

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

My name is Alicia Romano\', I\'m currently a Scientific Collaborator working in the Mastitis Research Group in Agroscope, the federal Swiss government\'s competence centre for research in the agri-food sector. In August, I finished a PhD entitled“Analysis of bovine intramammary resistome and of the bacterial transmission within dairy herds” in which I applied whole genome sequencing to detected antimicrobial resistance genes acquired from different bacterial species isolated from cow\'s milk and the farm environment. During my PhD and my previous research in an Italian institute, I performed molecular analysis (PCR), phenotypic analysis (microbiology plating, minimum inhibitory concentration for antimicrobic resistance detection, MALDI-TOF MS for bacterial identification) and applied commercial bioinformatic tools for analysing WGS data.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

The project in which I would like to be involved included detection of AMR applying WGS related to bacteria involved in the mastitis infection or in general in the herd environment. I\'m also interested in the propagation of ARGs at the farm to fork level involving the One health approach.
