  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I am a Microbiology researcher holding a Ph.D. in Microbiology. My expertise is prominently centered around AMR research, encompassing various environments such as water, soil, air, sediments, and wastes. I employ a diverse range of microbiological and molecular techniques to conduct impactful research. A significant part of my career has been dedicated to advancing our understanding of AMR dynamics. I have played a pivotal role in establishing robust AMR surveillance systems, particularly in Nigeria under the Flemming Fund project. My contributions extend to policy development and the implementation of effective strategies for monitoring and addressing AMR challenges. In the field of genomics, I specialize in whole genome sequencing of bacteria and fungi, providing insights into the genetic mechanisms underpinning antimicrobial resistance. My research not only focuses on identifying emerging resistance patterns but also addresses the broader implications of AMR in diverse microbial ecosystems. I take pride in my role as a mentor and educator, having trained numerous postgraduate students in the field of AMR research. My commitment to knowledge dissemination and community engagement underscores my dedication to addressing the critical global issue of amr

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I am eager to contribute my expertise to the ongoing efforts in JPIAMR. Given my extensive background in AMR surveillance and diagnostics, particularly in Nigeria (a LMIC), I am keen on joining projects that aim to further our understanding of AMR dynamics and develop effective strategies for its mitigation. With a focus on whole genome sequencing of bacteria and fungi, I bring a unique skill set to unravel the genetic intricacies of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. I am particularly interested in projects that leverage genomics to identify emerging resistance patterns, assess the impact of AMR in various microbial ecosystems, and propose targeted interventions in LMICs. Having successfully led initiatives under the Flemming Fund project to lay the foundation for AMR surveillance in Nigeria, I am well-equipped to contribute to projects that require a combination of research acumen, policy development, and program implementation
