17th JPIAMR transnational call for research projects - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT)

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 17th call - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT).

General Information

  • Type: Partner looking for project
  • Organisation: University of Toronto
  • Country: Canada (CA)
  • Career stage: Other.

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 1: Design novel or improved interventions to prevent, mitigate and /or treat fungal infections, which are resistant to treatments and/or are at risk of developing resistance
  • Subtopics:

  • One Health Setting:

    Human Health

Animal Health (incl. wildlife, livestock, acquatic organisms, and companion animals)

  • Keywords:

structural biology drug design protein biochemistry antimicrobials enzyme characterization

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I\'m a structural biologist and biochemist with extensive expertise in studies of the molecular mechanisms of AMR and antimicrobial drug discovery. To a JPIAMR project, I can contribute recombinant protein production and characterization, structural biology (crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy), enyme-ligand interaction studies, structure-guided drug design and/or optimization, and bioinformatics (protein sequence family analysis, modeling/AlphaFold2, molecular dynamics, and function prediction)

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I am interested in joining a project with the goals of the discovery of new antimicrobials or modification of existing antimicrobials, studies of antimicrobial mechanism of action and mechanism of resistance, and characterization of drug targets/resistance enzymes. I am also interested in projects focused on discovery of new resistance enzymes/mechanisms, bioinformatics in terms of mechanisms of drug action and resistance, or related projects.
