Photodynamic therapuetic intervention to tackle resistance microbes
I am an organic chemist and with expertise in making complex compounds. Looking for experts with antibacterial therapy and translational knowlédge.
We have been working on different photosensitizers (PS), which produce cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) with an external light, so called photodynamic therapy (PDT). This PDT procedure is now established for antibacterial/antifungal therapy as well. To improve safety margin, as irradiating solely bacteria /Fungi is unachievable in humans, we fine-tuned the PS to make it inactive within human cells, but kept its phototoxicity intact in bacteria/fungi. Our first designed PS performed well in vitro studies, now we aim to expand this concept to translatable state with detail studies in vivo.
