I am a Professor of veterinary medicine at the Agriculture and Forestry University, Nepal. I have been working on the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in veterinary field since few years. AMR poses a significant and growing threat to public health worldwide, and Nepal is no exception to this global challenge. In recent years, Nepal has witnessed an increase in the prevalence of AMR due to factors such as widespread and often indiscriminate use of antibiotics, inadequate access to healthcare, and limited awareness about proper antibiotic usage. The emergence of resistant strains of bacteria and other pathogens in Nepal raises concerns about the effectiveness of existing treatments for infectious diseases. In the context of this complex scenario, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive approach that encompasses surveillance, education, and policy interventions to mitigate the impact of AMR in Nepal. Strengthening healthcare infrastructure, promoting responsible antibiotic use, and fostering international collaboration are crucial steps towards preserving the effectiveness of antimicrobials and safeguarding public health in Nepal.
I would like to join any kind of projects focused on AMR that are useful for low income countries like Nepal.
