17th JPIAMR transnational call for research projects - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT)

This is a match-making section for JPIAMR 17th call - AMR Interventions 2024 (IMPACT).

General Information

  • Type: Partner looking for project
  • Organisation: University of Portsmouth
  • Country: United Kingdom (UK)
  • Career stage: Other.

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 1: Design novel or improved interventions to prevent, mitigate and /or treat fungal infections, which are resistant to treatments and/or are at risk of developing resistance
  • Subtopics:

  • One Health Setting:

    Human Health

Animal Health (incl. wildlife, livestock, acquatic organisms, and companion animals)

  • Keywords:

two-component systems; in vivo assay; phenotypic screening; molecular dynamics; ligand docking

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

Our research group has 20+ years experience with two-component signalling systems. We have established and conducted various screening methodologies against two-component signalling systems. We have recently expanded into various computational methods including atomistic structural prediction, membrane-embedding and atomistic molecular dynamics. Our strength resides in the fact that we can rapidly perform successive rounds of computational and wet-lab experimentation that inform each other.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

We are currently working on several two-component signalling pathways and would be interested into moving from antibacterial to antifungal targets. These two-component systems exist in a very limited number in mammalian cells and would be excellent antifungal targets.
