Decolonization; cultural heritage engaging communities; public history
I am a cultural historian and artist-researcher working with the heritage industry to engage the public with troubled histories. My performance-based and ethnographic research centres on decolonizing heritage and museum sites through experimental theatre practice, audience research, and on investigating precarity, diversity and inclusion in the creative industries. I have worked with heritage sites in the UK, Ireland and the US on legacies of the transatlantic slave trade, colonialism, and reframing inclusive histories. I have an expertise in site specific and immersive performance, games design, digital technologies, spectatorship studies, practice-based research, culture studies, and using performance as tools for decolonisation in museum and heritage sites.
I am interested in projects investigating the legacy of colonialism in the heritage industry, transatlantic slave trade memory, indigenous histories, the use of decolonisation practices the heritage and museum industry, and co-creation as a tool for healing and change for communities dealing with the legacy of cultural trauma.
