Ukrainian refugees transformation of ethnic identification attitudes towards the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine
We are a multidisciplinary duo, social psychologist Jana Papcunova and historian Ondrej Ficeri, with expertise in ethnic and migration studies. We are looking for project partners—sociologists, psychologists, or historians—who are capable of conducting research in the fields of processes of ethnic identification and attitudes towards historical narratives, conflicts, ideological values, or political preferences.
This research proposal seeks to investigate the effects of the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine on Ukrainian refugees in European countries. Through qualitative research methods such as interviews and focus group discussions, the study aims to explore the transformation of ethnic identification, attitudes towards national history, and perspectives on the conflict among Ukrainian refugees. The research objectives include examining changes in ethnic identification, analyzing ideological values and political preferences, investigating attitudes towards historical events, and assessing attitudes towards the ongoing war and its potential aftermath. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the complex dynamics of Ukrainian refugees\' experiences and perspectives in relation to the conflict and its implications.
