  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I am interested in developing a project related to investigating the concept of "crisis" in the study of men and masculinities. It seems the most common premise for research within the field of the Critical Study of Men and Masculinities (CSMM) is the idea that masculinity is in crisis. I would like to examine the idea of crisis on a range of levels: the centrality of the concept in the field of CSMM; are ideas of crisis more common in certain categories of CSMM?; what impact does the idea of crisis of masculinities have on wider societal perceptions of men and masculinities?; what are the possibilities for moving beyond ideas of crisis in the field? These are some introductory ideas; I would certainly be interested in speaking more with partners to explore other avenues related to the concept of crisis and refine the focus of any such project.
