This is a match-making section for CHANSE, HERA and NORFACE: Crisis and Wellbeing calls.
Music; Philosophy; Performance; Sense-making; Language; Affect
One of my key interests is how music and the arts can offer insight into processes of sense-making involved in emergent social movements and democratic world-building, which are both needed at times of crisis. I have written on music of the 20th and 21st centuries and have a background in philosophical and sociological approaches to music, and the close reading of music and musical experiences in context. Previous interdisciplinary themes addressed in publications include music & humour, music & death, postmodernism, music and language (and rhetoric), and music and politics, among others.
I am particularly interested in (but not limited to) how music and the arts can open up affective spaces for sense-making and the reinterpretation of the world at times of crisis; and issues of an aesthetic and creative nature that afford new insight into how we communicate and connect with one another.
