This is a match-making section for CHANSE, HERA and NORFACE: Crisis and Wellbeing calls.
Emotions; Social cognition; Emotionally charged linguistic stimuli; Affective attitudes towards crisis
Our team has large experience in EEG (ERP) studies and analyses, as well as behavioral, eye tracking and survey studies (online and in-person). Most of the studies conducted by our team concerned the influence of emotions (especially those evoked by linguistic stimuli) on social cognition, cognitive processes and decision-making. Our previous work (you can find it at the link: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Kamil-Imbir) has been done in a framework based on dual-process theories, e.g. system 1 (heuristic) & system 2 (analytic). Our team has applied the dual-process theories to understanding emotional processing in terms of automatic (system 1) and reflective (system 2) emotions.
We would like to explore how emotionally charged stimuli that people are bombarded with every day (during social interactions, at work, by media etc.), could influence their reactions and behavior in times of crisis. The role of language and linguistic stimuli in shaping affective states, and in effect, how those factors modify coping with crisis, is also in our area of interest. We are also open to joining a project led by other research teams in the field of emotions and linguistics.
