My aim is to understand what the \'crisis label\' and the \'crisis-talk\' achieve during the proclamation of a migration crisis. I have extensive fieldwork experience in The Gambia, Chile, Morocco, Haiti, DR Congo, Turkey, Romania and Spain, and my research is focused in (im)mobilities, transnational migrations, humanitarianism, informality and networks. I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Iceland, and my work is published in peer-reviewed journals such as Social Anthropology (2019), Mobilities (2019), Migration Letters (2021), Social Inclusion (2021), Mortality (2022), Politics and Governance (2022) and Globalizations (2023).
I have been researching the Canary Islands migration route since the proclamation of a migration crisis in 2020. I am doing fieldwork both in the Canaries and following the migrants trajectories along Europe. My aim is to continue this investigation in collaboration with other projects and scholars working in similar approaches and frames to crisis.
