People with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have persistent difficulties with social interaction and communication. Their lack of social skills makes it difficult for them to function in normal everyday situations, let alone air travel. To help these people, several organisations around the world have begun to develop virtual reality as a form of therapy for autism. The project - \'I\'m not afraid to fly\' - is about creating a VR application for people on the autism spectrum for whom travelling is a challenge, as the whole process from arriving at the airport to boarding the plane causes anxiety. Autistic people who are travelling on a plane for the first time find the experience daunting as they have no preparation and are unsure of what to expect when travelling by air. Therefore, the research will create a virtual reality experience to help them navigate the airport before departure.
