    Health Economics Group is the health economics unit from the Valdecilla Biomedical Research Institute – IDIVAL which is the Health Research Institute of Cantabria and the University of Cantabria. Our team is made up of lecturers from the Department of Economics, Geography and Business Administration at the University of Cantabria. Moreover, health professionals like doctors, nurses or pharmacists belong to our group. Our expertise includes research papers analyzing the impact of socioeconomic factors on noncommunicable diseases and experience in European projects like H2020 TIMELY, H2020 FRESHER, Cost Actions or our collaboration in the EU4Health programme on the implementation of best practices and research results on the prevention of noncommunicable diseases and risk factors

    Projects involving the application of theoretical and applied models to help decision makers in health and social services to take decisions based on the following values: co-creation with all the stakeholders involved in the delivery of care, patient empowerment, creation of value for the patient in all the process, fostering efficiency and effectiveness. projects in the related to the following research lines: • Economic analysis and evaluation of public policies, protocols, and interventions • Health Technology Assessment (HTA): Evaluation of the impact of new health technologies or processes from the point of view of long-term sustainability, resilience, justice, equity, as well as social and economic development. Evaluation of the creation of value for the patient and stakeholders involved in the process • Efficiency in the use of health resources by measuring direct, indirect, tangible, and intangible cost: Cost-effectiveness, Cost utility, Social Return on the Investment (SROI), Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), • Socioeconomic determinants of health and healthcare utilization including lifestyles, healthy habits or risk factors
