Spatial analysts, geographers, sociologists, economists, and statists who are interested and experienced in assessing the urban environment.
The regulation and construction of urban spaces have a significant impact on gender relations and the mobility patterns of individuals, particularly with regard to care work. Good multimodal transport planning and the spatial organization of public space encourage walking, reducing environmental impacts, and promoting healthier and more inclusive cities. In this context, it is important to consider gender and the needs of marginalized groups in the construction of urban environments that facilitate the mobility of care and improve the quality of life of people dedicated to care activities. This research establishes a link between gender and city through the mobility of care, taking as an object of study the surrounding areas around public transport stops (metro/tram stations). The aim is to diagnose and propose strategies that aim to improve the care mobility opportunities and experience and generate fair transport systems for all. The research establishes objectives and methodological phases that include various sources of information, including traditional (field studies) and technological (geolocated data from social networks), to obtain an updated diagnosis on accessibility, economic and urban activities, and social preferences concerning the mobility of care in the urban spaces of the metro/tram stations surroundings, and to establish effective strategies to improve mobility and encourage activity around urban public transport stops.
