  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

The objectives of the project are as follows: 1) To identify the most important factors influencing personal well-being by means of panel studies from several countries. 2) To assign the most important and strongest factors influencing personal well-being to one of four areas of influence, based on new theories to be created: (a) genetics and physical characteristics: Here we focus e. g. on differences between twins (b) micro- and macro-environment: Here we focus on e. g. working environments (because many people spend 8-10 hours each day in their working environment) (c) thought patterns, attitudes and behaviors: Here we focus e. g. on prejudices and attitudes (d) chance and random events: Here we focus e. g. on gambling and coincidence 3) Analyze data from twin studies with new waves to synchronously examine the four areas (genetics, environment, thought patterns and behaviors, chance) in order to be able to measure and validate percentages of the most influential factors on personal well-being. 4) Meta-analytically investigate whether personal well-being can be changed and whether these changes are sustainable. The aim is to determine the changeability of the most important influencing factors and how strongly positive and permanently sustainable it is possible to change them in people (and not just temporarily).
