We are a large Social Sciences School based in the diverse city of Birmingham UK. Our 130 staff have broad interests in crisis and wellbeing across Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Security Studies, Youth Studies and Policing. We have colleagues who offer expertise across these areas and for instance are interested in: -Challenges of identity, change and intersectionality under crisis conditions, -Mental health and wellbeing, -Post-covid change for the individual and society, -Crises relating to city living/urban studies, change and other physical spaces, -Migration and new communities - challenges and lived experiences during economic challenge, -Challenges around virtual worlds and AI -Conspiracy theories and new movements as a response to perceived crisis and challenge, -Violence, and also extremism and hate -Youth, communities, education and challenges -Economic and social hardship, austerity and wellbeing -Vulnerability, exclusion, insecurities and the cost of living crisis -Social Justice and crisis impacts on equality strands and those with protected characteristics, e.g., around gender, age, Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, disabled people. We have great experience with working transnationally and of successful EU funding grant capture across EU funding streams.
