This is a match-making section for CHANSE, HERA and NORFACE: Crisis and Wellbeing calls.
memory; environment; justice; gender; race
We are an established group, working on comparative and transnational crime genre studies since 2005. We are looking for partners who can contribute to thematic investigations of how the crime genre represents and interrogates different aspects of crisis.
Our project aligns with the theme of a conference we are holding in June this year in Galway Ireland. See below for link to call for papers (closed) which has a longer description of our approach to the crime genre and crisis. Crisis is at the heart of the genre, with crimes affecting individuals, families, communities, and nations. Furthermore, the embeddedness of the modern subject within transnational and global networks of travel, commerce, exchange, influence, raises complex questions of complicity and responsibility in local and global crises. How does the crime genre represent and reflect on crises? What ways forward does it suggest? The project looks at distinct points of crisis. Indicative areas include environment; historical memory; social justice; gender equality; race; citizenship, etc.
