migrant integration education policy teachers relationships
My recent research focuses on the role of schools and teachers in facilitating migrant integration including wellbeing and relationships in education settings and policy factors that shape them. My research interests include educational change and social justice in contexts of diversity, and links between education and citizenship. I joined the University of Edinburgh in September 2012 as a Chancellor\'s Research Fellow. I got a PhD in Education Sciences at Utrecht University, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences in 2011, and worked as a researcher with the Centre for Education Policy in Belgrade from 2006 to 2012.
Recently, I have led an international project funded by the Nordforsk (Teaching that Matters for Migrant Students: Levers of Integration in Scotland, Finland and Sweden) the studied the impact of relationships (at teacher and school levels) on the outcomes of migrant integration in schools in terms of their wellbeing as well as learning. The findings pointed to the potential role of policies in shaping the conditions for the relationships that facilitate migrant students\' integration in schools that I would like to explore more systematically in a cross country project. I am also interested in projects that include education policies within the wider immigration and welfare regimes.
